Blood Borne Pathogens and Infectious Materials

Standard Precautions is an approach to infection control. According to the concept of Standard Precautions all human blood and certain human body fluids are treated as if known to be infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV) human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and other blood borne pathogens. Standard Precautions shall be followed to prevent contact with blood or infectious materials.
