Natalli Dias

Safety Advisor, Motion Picture

Natalli joined Actsafe in June 2020 as a safety advisor after working with three large multinational companies from her home country…

… She has nearly 12 years’ experience in OHS, mostly in the manufacturing industry. Her background includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and recently she received a Leadership Certificate through BCIT. She is always looking for development opportunities as a professional. 

Natalli enjoys outdoor activities and loves to explore new lakes. She has a passion for dancing and spending time with family, like a good Latina. Natalli loves to help her community by volunteering as often as possible and the two groups she usually assists with are the homeless and people who are recovering from addiction.

Carolyn Stewart

Receptionist and Office Assistant

Carolyn joined the Actsafe team in January 2015 part-time, and was very quickly made the full-time Receptionist and Administrative Assistant. Carolyn…
…has studied various topics including Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Science, InDesign, and even Wedding Planning. Carolyn, like Lisa, also knows American Sign Language (ASL). Outside of work, Carolyn likes to watch TV and is Actsafe’s resident Game of Thrones expert. She also likes to dance and plan parties. Her luckier guests get to sample her speciality – homemade salsa.

Gaurav Gupta

Membership Engagement Coordinator

Gaurav is the Membership Engagement Coordinator at Actsafe and joined the team in December 2020, one month after completing a degree in Business Administration Sales and Digital Marketing…

…He also has a master’s degree in Marketing Management from the UK and a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy along with a diploma in Acupuncture. Gaurav has over 10 years of experience working in the marketing and advertising agencies along with event management and brand communications back in India. He calls himself digitally fluent and creatively curious.

Gaurav loves socializing and is very fond of sports, especially cricket. He enjoys cooking for his family and friends and also loves to explore new cuisine from around the world. He loves to watch movies and is an ardent admirer of the Marvel Universe. He is very fond of travelling and has a bucket list to see 50 places in the world before he turns 50; he calls it his 50/50 vision. His motto is, “In a world of worriers be a warrior.”

Will Heller

Will joined Actsafe in October 2019 as a safety advisor after working with two other safety associations. He is a graduate of the BCIT…

Will joined Actsafe in October 2019 as a safety advisor after working with two other safety associations. He is a graduate of the BCIT Occupational Health and Safety program where he received a ‘Marks of Distinction’ award for his efforts. Will has worked with numerous organizations in the planned development and implementation of safety management systems. Will really enjoys facillitating adult education workshops. Several of the companies that Will has worked with have received international safety awards or external certification of their health and safety management system. Will additionally volunteers time with the CSSE Fraser Valley Chapter as Chair. Will is kept busy by his Basset Hound, Radar, and can often be found meandering down creeks and trails in search of whatever it is Radar smells. This year Will also learned how to sail down at Rocky Point Park and is looking forward to more time on the water next year.

Maureen Kaake

Operations Manager

Maureen joined Actsafe in August 2005 as the receptionist/administrative assistant when it was still operating as ‘SHAPE’. She has had a variety of roles during her tenure here and today is enjoying her role as Operations Manager. 

Prior to joining Actsafe, Maureen taught graphic design, as well as various computer applications at a private college for 10 years. She is currently enrolled in the Management Studies Diploma Program at Thompson Rivers University with a goal of earning her Bachelor in Commerce degree, specialising in human resources. 

When not at work, Maureen is busy training for the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer and rides as a survivor every August. She also enjoys painting, writing and continues to dabble in graphic design work in her spare time. Maureen is also a mother of 3 and a grandmother to two young boys. An interesting fact about Maureen; she was born and raised in a suburb of Montreal and credits The Beachcombers as the reason why she was drawn to the westcoast.

After 18 years of working in all aspects of motion picture and television production, Anand moved to Actsafe where he took on the role of Communications Manager. In early 2017, Anand added the Industry Advisor role to his portfolio, and is now responsible for managing education and outreach programs for the motion picture, television and commercial industries. Considered the “funny one” in the office, Anand is also an avid foodie, and enjoys cooking for family and friends alike. He also spends time as a volunteer coach for his son’s soccer team, and is still active in producing his own motion picture projects.

Harnak Lalli

Senior Accountant

Harnak is the Senior Accountant for Actsafe having joined the team in January 2019. He has over 20 years experience in the field of finance…

…and he is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK. He moved to Canada from the UK in 2003, where he has lived in various locations around British Columbia.

When not working, Harnak enjoys watching his beloved Arsenal FC play, reading sci-fi, history, and fantasy books, and watching movies. Fun fact: Harnak’s favourite movie is Goodfellas.

Jennifer Lane

Jen is the Marketing and Communications Specialist at Actsafe and joined the team in October 2018, four months after moving to Vancouver…

…from Ireland. She has an undergraduate degree in Commerce and a Masters degree in Food Marketing.

Jennifer also has experience in administration, communications, and marketing. She is part of the CSR committee at Actsafe and likes to consider herself as ‘the funny one’ in the office.

When not at work, you can normally find Jen walking along the beach at English Bay, socialising with friends, phoning her family in Ireland, or exploring all that Canada has to offer.

Manu is the Executive Director at Actsafe Safety Association and joined the team in March 2019. He has a varied background and extensive experience in the fields of physiotherapy, ergonomics, education and not for profit management. He is very active in promoting Ergonomics and has been a speaker at various conferences including TEDx. He has Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) and CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor (CPHSA) designations. Manu is an ISO18001 lead auditor and has contributed to drafting the OHS legislation for Govt. of Rwanda. He also sits on the board of the Work Wellness and Disability Prevention Institute.When not busy with work, Manu likes to play chess, sing karoake songs and take photos. An interesting fact about Manu is that he can read, write and speak 5 different languages – Telugu, English, Hindi, Gujarati and Oriya.

Don’s twenty-year career has taken him from student, to crew, to supervisor and now Manager of Performing Arts Programs and Services. Along the way…

Don’s twenty-year career has taken him from student, to crew, to supervisor and now Manager of Performing Arts Programs and Services. Along the way he has worked with some amazing organizations: The Massey Theatre, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Royal City Musical Theatre, The Canadian Institute for Theatre Technologies, to name just a few. Don now brings all of that experience and love for live performance to Actsafe. From ladder safety to air quality, Don has experienced it first hand and can help you navigate the world of performing arts safely. Outside of work, Don enjoys exploring North America by riding his mountain bike and goes camping with his family. He has camped the entire of the West Coast, and most of Canada, only failing to cross into Mexico! Don also lives and breathes theatre so he loves to help out in any production that can use a helping hand. Don’s favourite show of all time is The Phantom of the Opera.

Ella’s role at Actsafe is to dig into the data to discover and analyse trends in the hopes of conveying the importance of safety in our industry…

…Ella joined Actsafe in February 2016, not long after moving to Vancouver from Guernsey, Channel Islands. 

Ella has a creative background, including a BA (Hons) in Fashion and a diploma in Fine Art with Business Studies.

Ella enjoys the great outdoors and loves nothing more than snowshoeing up mountains. She has a thirst for knowledge and has recently studied Data Analytics at Brainstation, Herbal Medicine with Wild Seed School of Herbal Studies and Contemporary Dance with Future Leisure. Her goals this year are to advance in cross country skiing and complete her herbology studies at Pacific Rim College.

In October 2018, following her 10 month ASL and Deaf Studies diploma, Lisa joined the Actsafe team as the Administrative Assistant, and has since transitioned to Operations Assistant. Throughout her time at Simon Fraser University, Lisa gained extensive experience in client care (humans, critters and dogs), time management, and administration; ultimately graduating with a BSc in Biology. She is a part of the CSR committee at Actsafe and likes to consider herself as “the funniest one” in the office. When not at work you can find Lisa eating noodles and pickles- together or separately! When she isn’t eating she is usually thinking about what she is going to eat next while shes working out, stalking neighbourhood dogs, and drinking tea.
