 Crowd Safety Workshop

This interactive course aims to provide an understanding of the four aspects of basic crowd safety and to provide techniques to plan and manage safe pedestrian flows in crowded places during all phases of an event including emergencies.

This ever-popular workshop sells out quickly each year so to secure your spot, register now.

 Emergency Preparedness Drills

ShakeOutBC on October 17th was a great opportunity for us to look at how prepared our workplace is for emergencies. We carried out an earthquake drill as well as practising our first aid. These drills helped us to identify any hazards that may impact keeping everyone safe.

Check out this quarter’s Safety Scene which is filled with lots of emergency preparedness articles and information on how to be prepared for emergencies.

We are also giving away one free Occupational First Aid Level 1 training course. To enter, list the 10 items you need to have in your basic emergency kit (according to getprepared.gc.ca) in an email to communications@actsafe.ca. Entries close on October 31st and the winner will be drawn and notified.

 Our Team Is Growing

Actsafe are happy to announce that we have two new additions to our team – Stephanie Lawrence as Industry Safety Advisor, Motion Picture and Will Heller as Industry Safety Advisor, Performing Arts. Welcome Stephanie and Will.

 Fentanyl Overdose Training

Actsafe are holding a FREE naloxone training course on October 30th, delivered by Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan. By the end of this 90 minute course you will be able to describe what opioids are, be able to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, and know how to deliver naloxone in an emergency. Every attendee will also receive a free Take Home Naloxone (THN) kit.

Actsafe Aspiring Filmmaker Award

As part of WorkSafeBC’s Student Safety Video Contest, Actsafe’s Aspiring Filmmaker Award is back for its third year. It gives aspiring filmmakers a unique opportunity to get a kickstart on their careers in B.C.’s motion picture production industry. The award gives one filmmaking team exposure for their project, the opportunity to have lunch with a prominent Canadian filmmaker, a behind the scenes tour of a local production and safety training geared towards working in the motion picture industry.
