1.5 - 2hrs

This 90-minute course is taught in a classroom type setting on opioid overdose reversal and Take Home Naloxone (THN). The course provides a solid understanding of opioids, neurophysiology of opioid addiction, how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and Naloxone pharmacology.  In addition to this attendees will participate in a hands-on practice session learning how to deliver the opioid overdose reversal drug ‘Naloxone’.  By the end of the session, attendees will be able to describe what opioids are and their effects on the body/brain.  They will be able to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and know how to deliver Naloxone in an emergency.  Every attendee will receive a free Take Home Naloxone (THN) kit.

This course usually invokes many questions and discussions on the topics of substance use, mental health, opioids and current affairs on the topic, so you may like to be flexible and add another half an hour to stay for Q&A.
