Overview

Cardiac arrests are unlike heart attacks they often occur suddenly with no warning. Actsafe’s Cardiac Arrest Management workshop trains people on the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) when treating a cardiac arrest.

Learning Outcomes

This workshop covers the following:

  • Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2010 Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC)
  • Recognition and understanding of the different types of arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm)
  • Basic life support skills, including effective CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Skills are taught in a group session with scenario-based hands-on training.
