Vancouver — Actsafe staff joined hundreds of people today to commemorate the Day of Mourning at Canada Place.  Speakers, including a young man who had an accident in a sawmill, and a single mother who lost her only son, reminded those in attendance that the price for preventable workplace accidents is too high.

Workplace accidents and illnesses claimed the lives of 142 workers in 2011.

The Day of Mourning falls on a Saturday this year, so many communities are having events today through Sunday.
